Wedding Invitation Prices

A single figure is usually misleading when someone asks what an invitation costs, because printed and digital invitations are priced in completely different ways. One is multiplied by quantity; the other is flat.

What sets the price of a printed invitation?

The unit price depends on the paper, the printing technique and the handwork. Embossing, foiling and die-cutting push it up noticeably.

There are also items added on top of the unit price that are often left out of the sum:

  • Envelopes and, if used, the inner lining.
  • Name writing — handwriting or calligraphy is charged separately.
  • Postage, or the travel cost of hand delivery.
  • A second print run for guests added late — usually a small quantity, so the unit price comes out high.

Why is a digital invitation independent of quantity?

A digital invitation produces one link. Whether you send it to fifty people or five hundred, the cost is the same; the price is for the design and the features inside it.

That is why the gap between the two options opens quickly for large weddings, while for small ones they can come close together.

What to watch when comparing

The most common mistake is counting only the printing price on the printed side. Once envelopes, name writing and distribution are added, the total shifts noticeably.

Seeing it with your own numbers is the soundest approach; we built a separate calculator for that.

The differences that are not about price

The decision is not made on numbers alone. A printed invitation leaves a physical keepsake; a digital one can be edited, collects RSVPs and arrives instantly.

We compared those differences in more detail in a separate article.
