When should an invitation go out?

For a civil ceremony, a henna night or a birthday, where the circle is closer, two weeks is usually enough. A digital invitation arrives the moment you send it, so adding someone at the last minute is not a problem.
Should you send a reminder?
Sending a reminder about a week before the event to guests who have not answered lifts the response rate noticeably. Resending the same link is enough.
Closing the RSVP list a few days before the date you owe the venue a final headcount leaves you room to collect the last answers.
